IMAP Inbox 2007

I only use one email account, and just recently changed it from a POP to
IMAP. As a POP account all my incoming mail went into the default personal
folder inbox whereas the IMAP has a separate account inbox folder. Is there a
way to direct and manage all of the IMAP account mail in the Personal Inbox
folder and subfolders instead of as a separate mail folder? I have thousands
of messages in the Personal Inbox folder associated with the same email
address. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks.....

The IMAP protocol requires its own folder set because all those folders sync
with the server. You can move message in and out op the IMAP folder as much
as you want.

Thanks. Another question: Assume that the sole reason for choosing IMAP over
POP is to be able to access all messages from multiple computers. If I make
the selection in a POP account to keep messages on the server for "x" number
of days, doesn't that essentially accomplish the same objective (at least for
the amount of time seleted)? What other nuanced advantages, if any, are there
to keep the account as an IMAP? Thanks again....

I'd think so.

If you delete something on PC A, it will no longer be available on PC B
either, since it references the same message store. You can have multiple
folders on the server, not just Inbox. Your PST will probably be smaller
because Outlook won't download the messages from the server unless you open
the folder containing them.

That said, I think Outlook's IMAP handling is weak.
