Live Sync is the feature that enables your IMAP account to stay connected while you have Entourage open. This means that within seconds of your server receiving a message then you will be notified. This is independent of whatever Send/Receive schedule you have enabled. You can use Live Sync if your IMAP supprts IDLE. Right-click or Control-click your IMAP account in the folder list on the left and select Get Info. If you see the word IDLE somewhere in the long list of supported features then you can use Live Sync. Your account should reflect the number of unread messages correctly when Live Sync is available. Also under Options, look at the last option to check for unread messages in subscribed folders (anything other than the default folders). If you feel that the number is not getting reflected properly then you can right-click or Control-click your account in the folder list and select "Repair Message List". This is a trouble-shooting measure. It will clear your local cache of mail and synchronize it again from the server. Remember, IMAP syncs mail with the server unlike POP, which is meant to download and deleted from the server. The better way to do this is to not forward from your client (don't forward from Entourage) but instead log in to your account's webmail address and forward mail to your Gmail account from there. Most service providers offer webmail access.
