I am using Outlook 2007 with business contact manager. I had just as soon
not have business contact manager, but it continued to pester me to install
so I relented. I currently have about 1258 messages in the inbox and 277 in
the Sent folder. I just bought a new Dell Optiplex 755 with Intel Core Duo
3 gHz and 2 GB of RAM.
My dismay comes from the fact that when I open Outlook it takes FOREVER to
get done with its initial machinations to allow me to get to the set of
folders where the inbox is. Then it takes forever to sync the IMAP folders
with the local IMAP pst folders. Very often, it will hang with about 68% of
the send receive and sync process done. Very often, it will tell me that
IMAP failed to copy the headers. If I am in a hurry, I have to go to the
online version of IMAP folders and check my email there. What can I do to
improve on the performance?
