IMAP Purge & PDA's

Hi Experts

I am having a problem that cant be too isolated... several other people in
my office are having the same issue and we have found nothing on the
newsgroups so far that solves it.

We have two email accounts. Since only one can connect via SMPT the other
one is connected via IMAP. The IMAP account receives a lot of SPAM so I have
both the SPAM filters and a number of rules setup to catch and delete or
move those messages. The problem is that in an IMAP account the messages are
only marked for deletion... they are apparently still in the mail store on
the exchange server because the PDA still picks them up using POP (thus
defeating fully half the value of the PDA).

So, two questions:

Can I set up my IMAP folders in such a way that all new mail goes to the
main mailbox inbox where deletions are actually deleated from the folder and
moved to the deleted items folder, or rules moving them to another folder do
not leave any residual behind in the mail stores? Then I can just manage the
PDA via ActiveSynch and the problem should go away. I have looked at the
Files button in the Data Folders tab but saw nothing obvious.

Alternatively, is there a way to purge the IMAP message immediately on
delete or move? This would be a better solution but some of the replies I
saw to earlier threads seem to indicate this is not currently possible.

Thanks much.
