IMAP server closes the connection

Outlook 2010 - Single use home computer
I use Outlook for my email with Cox Cable as my internet provider. I use Outlook to get email from 2 addresses, one a POP3 account and the other IMAP.. No problems with the POP3 account, the IMAP account (GMail) has worked fine since its inception about three months ago The last 3 or 4 days Outlook has been giving me the error message "IMAP server closes the connection" and doesn't get the email from that account, the POP3 continues to work fine. Can anyone help with this please?
