IMAP subfolders removed after clicking on main folder

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: imap

When clicking on a folder that has sub-folders underneath it, the sub-folders disappear after Entourage checks for new messages. I can get the folder back using 'Receive Folder List', but the next time i click on the main folder it happens again. How can I stop this from happening?
