Hey,
My problem is somewhat an extension of Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 280857
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;280857). The reason why the suggested workaround
doesn't work for me is that I actually have an
attachment, but it shows up as a winmail.dat file, which
is junk to any other software application, but Outlook.
I don't use RTF for the e-mails I compose, so people
receive the e-mails I sent (along with the attachments,
if any) just fine. I am having problems viewing the e-
mails I've sent, though.
(since there are no such options) I created a rule that
copies the e-mails I sent to an IMAP folder (called
SentIMAP) when I send them (not to the locally stored
Sent Mail folder). This rule works fine; but when I want
to view an e-mail in this folder using a non-Outlook
client (or a web-based service), I see the Winmail.dat
attachment (whether there's actually an attachment or
not).
So I guess my problem is exactly the one specified in MS
KB Article - 280857 (copying = modifying); but I can't
just ignore the winmail.dat attachment, since it may
actually contain an attachment.
Anyone know a "real" workaround? Or maybe change the
simple copying rule to a more sophisticated one to
resolve this.
Thanks,
-K
PS: The rule is coded in the Rules Wizard like this:
"Apply this rule after I send the message
move a copy to the SentIMAP folder."
