Imbed fonts - Word X - Can I embed fonts in my word documents

I am a student and I use Greek and Hebrew fonts in many of my
documents. I want to be able to share my work with people who may not
have these fonts installed on their machines. Is there a way to embed
fonts in my documents so that others can take full advantage of my
documents?

I have looked through help files, etc. for quite a while and I am not
sure if this is an issue of semantics and I am using incorrect
terminology, or this option does not exist for this version of office.

I am using the newest version of office for Mac OS X with the most
current updates on both office and the OS.

If anybody knows how to help me I will be very thankful.

Hi Matt,

I think not, although someone may know more about this than I do. However,
you can save the document as PDF and send that. They will not be able to
edit it, but they will be able to read it.

Hi

Years ago Macintosh versions of Word supported font embedding. It was
problematic for several reasons, and Microsoft has since dropped support for
font embedding on the Mac. Although font embedding is still supported on
Windows, these problems remain:

* Fonts have a form of digital rights management built in. Unless the
font's creator allows the font to be embedded, you can't embed the font even
if Word has the capability. Most font designers expect you to pay for the
font, so few were allowing fonts to be embedded, which made the feature
useless for most fonts.

* Users expected that formatting would match exactly for everyone. But even
though with an embedded font the characters would look the same on screen,
using various printer drivers would still skew the output.

* Fonts do not always work perfectly across platforms. More often than not
there would be problems

* Document sizes grow dramatically when fonts are embedded - especially if
the option to include the entire font set is chosen.

Stick with PDF format document if you want to let your audience have an
exact view of your document.

Unfortunately, Mac Word does not allow you the ability to
embed True Type fonts (though we do see it in the Windows
version of Word). My recommendation, as someone who has
to supply documentation to folks using Word (Office) on
both platforms, is to make sure you format with a font
which is installed with Word (Office). It will greatly
simplify your file sharing issues.
