IMessage's PR_ENTRYID changes with Outlook 2003 SP2

I just installed 2003 SP2 and now, when I accept a meeting invitation, the
original PR_ENTRYID for the meeting is changed to something different. I
thought entryid's where non-volatile so long as the message was not moved to
another folder.

In an effort to solve a lot of problems related to disappearing messages, SP2 introduces a new behavior. Information on it has been available for several months at http://support.microsoft.com/?id=899919. Bottom line is that appointment EntryIDs cannot be relied on as permanent. You will need to use another ID instead. The article provides suggestions.

Thanks for the info. According to the article, the new entryid design was
introduced to solve problems with cached mode. I assume they mean cached
mode with exchange. Do you know it the PST has similar problems? I wouldn't
think so.

Yes, potentially the same problems can occur, although they're far less likely since PST users don't exchange meeting requests as much.
