Impact of restarting queue service to other projects

Hello Everyone,

I'm looking to find out if there is any impact to restarting the queue
service in our environment. The reason I ask is that we have multiple project
server instances running within the same environment. If one particular
instance is experiencing queue issues and we feel that restarting the queue
service would be the best course of action, will there by any impact to other
instances who are running ok?

In case it matters, we have the IU installed and are running a WIN2003
environment with separate servers for Analysis, MSP, Web Front End, Database
and SRS.

If there is any detail I omitted, please let me know

Thanks,
Shane

Restarting the queue service should not impact the other instances that much.
They will only see that looks like the queue being very slow. But I have
seen the queue service hung where it would not restart, forcing a reboot.

You may want to consider recyling the service at night when no users are
connected.

Hope this help

Hi Ray -

Thanks for clarifying this.

I was just concerned that with so many instances and jobs running that if
the service was restarted whilst it was processing other jobs there might be
a negative impact.
