Implications of entering >8 hours worked vs. splitting into Actual Work and Overtime Work

In testing the My Tasks page and the assignment detail page, I entered
hours worked per day.

Anything I need to keep in mind as to whether or not to tell folks if
they work > 8 hours in a day to split the >8 hours into the Overtime
row? It would be easier to just enter all the hours in the Actual
Work row, but not sure if I had to turn off the Overtime option in the
system configuration.

Please comment on "best practice" and implications.

Your workers only need to enter Actual Overtime Work if you have specified
an Overtime Rate value that is greater than the Standard Rate for each
resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool. If you need to cost Overtime Work
at a higher rate, then they must enter the amount over 8 hours each day in
the Actual Overtime Work field. Otherwise, if you don't need to cost
Overtime Work at a different rate, then tell them to enter their total
amount of work in the Actual Work field. Hope this helps.
