Import 12 MB XML File seems to stall

I am attempting to repair a corrupted project by exporting the project to an
XML file and deleting the project from the server.

I am now trying to import the XML file, which is 12 MB. I expected this
would take some time. Has anyone else imported such a large XML file?

Yes, be patient.
We had a 4 MB mpp turn into a much larger xml file (20MB as I remember).
Re-importing this one xml file took over 3.5 hours.
The resulting MPP file after all was said and done was 1.3MB

The XML implementation in Project is quite lame in this regard. After the
half-day import process completes, you should force a rebuild of the binary
blob, by following the directions posted in the FAQs on our
projectserverexperts.com site.
