Import a website from Dreamweaver MX4 into FrontPage 2003

DAPPER

How do you import a website, eg., written with Macromedia Dreamweaver, into
FrontPage 2003? I have the website in question saved in "My Documents".

Thank you,

Dave

I'm curious ... why do you want to do that? There are so many wonderful
thing that you can do with Dreamweaver that aren't possible with FrontPage.
And yes, there are a few things that FrontPage does better.

Just open the folder with the web content in FP.

I cannot speak for the OP..but perhaps they don't have Dreamweaver, or
perhaps they don't like Dreamweaver, or perhaps they happen to think
FrontPage is easier to work with and also better than Dreamweaver.

IOW there are many good and valid reasons why people choose FrontPage over
Dreamweaver. :)

That is, open the web (which is just a folder, really - but FP will add its
special folders it needs) - File > Open > Web/Site.

Good write-up Chris! I have acquaintances that use one...or the other...or
both...or neither! In real life it doesn't matter..in cyber life there seems
to be a one-upsmanship about it often times. I figure sooner or later all of
the falsehoods that are spread..will start showing up here:

PS Macs are better.... (only kidding!) <g>

thanks for your kind words!

I think this one is even more typical of the feedback I get from other
professionals or new professionals who use fp:
http://channels.lockergnome.com/web/archives/20051110_frontpage_not_for_professionals.phtml
it's extra "real" because it was a "real" email. LOL

by the way I used a Mac for the first time a little while back and it was
kind of interesting. I could see the utility in it and also could see it
being a good choice for certain users. ditto for "linspire" but to less a
degree. with linspire you've got the ultra simple aspect of the GUI but
lurking just beneath the surface are things that require skills/ tricks/
techniques that even fairly experienced Windows users wouldn't necessarily
have or know.

Truth be known, If money and time weren't an object I'd probably have fifty
computers each configured differently all set up and ready to go. :)

Great post Chris,

I agree with you and Joe completely. I recently had a Dell Hardware Tech
stop by to do some warranty work on my computer. When he asked what web
development tool I used, I told him FrontPage 03, he then replied that I must
only use Windows servers, since FrontPage is not compatible with Unix or
Linux.

After he completed his work, I opened a site that I am working on now that
had been designed with DW, edited a Library item in Note Pad, and then
published back to a Linux server.

MYTH BUSTED :))
