Hi Waynea,

sorry to say, but you are not able to import a calendar, you will have to
re-create it manually. You will find that you actually have more features in
2007 that are most helpfull managing calendar exeptions
Hope this helps

Allow me to render a second opinion. Given the fact that your question is
so general, it sounds like you are talking about one of two things.

On the one hand, you open a project in Microsoft Project 2007, and that
project was originally created in Microsoft Project 2003 and contains a
custom calendar. In this case, the calendar will still appear in Project
2007. So, yes, you can import a calendar from a Project 2003 file into a
Microsoft Project 2007 and keep the custom calendar. Keep in mind, however,
that nonworking days such as vacation will show as Exceptions individually
marked as [Unnamed]. Is this what you are talking about?

On the other hand, you created a custom calendar in the Enterprise Global
file in Project Server 2003 and you want to move it to Project Server 2007.
Yes, you can do this, too, but it will take a little "tweaking" of Project
Server 2007 to make it happen. To accomplish this, first do the following:

1. Launch Microsoft Project 2003 and connect to Project Server. In the new
blank file that appears, click Tools - Organizer - Calendars. Select the
custom calendar on the left side of the dialog and copy it to the right side
of the dialog (into the blank project) and then click the Close button.
Save the blank project as an MPP file in a location you can access easily,
such as your computer's Desktop, and give it a name such as Project with
2003 Calendar, or something like that. Exit Project Professional 20003.

2. Log into Project Web Access with administrator permissions in your
Project Server 2007 instance. Click Server Settings - Additional Server
Settings. On the Additional Server Settings page, select the "Allow
projects to use local base calendars" option and then click the Save button.

3. Launch Microsoft Project 2007 and connect to Project Server. Click
File - Open, navigate to the location where you saved the 2003 file with the
calendar, and then open that project. Click Tools - Change Working Time.
In the Change Working Time dialog, click the For Calendar pick list at the
top and select the 2003 calendar. Click the Add Calendar to Enterprise
button to add the 2003 calendar as a new calendar in Project Server 2007.

4. Log back into Project Web Access with administrator permissions in your
Project Server 2007 instance. Click Server Settings - Additional Server
Settings. On the Additional Server Settings page, DESELECT the "Allow
projects to use local base calendars" option and then click the Save button.

Given how much work it is to import a 2003 calendar into 2007, I think you
might find it easier to simply create the calendar from scratch in 2007, but
that is up to you. So, in retrospect, which of the two above solution were
you seeking? Please let us know.
