It looks like EN now calls it "Format Paper" rather than Scan RTF, as here:
http://endnote.com/support/en_wpchart_mac.asp
The EN Help will definitely have a section on it, possibly called
something like "using EN with processors other than Word". It's not
ideal--but it's functional and it means you don't have to break your
workflow to deal with this problem immediately, but can consider
Bookends at your leisure (there's also Sente, by the way)
To get the raw unformatted fields into the Word doc, just keep EN open
and either drag and drop directly from your library or use cmd-c, cmd-v
to copy/paste. That's what you do as you compose. When the doc is pretty
much finished, save a COPY as RTF and then run EN on it to format the
citations.
If I remember correctly, I have bought EN3, 5, 8 (buggy) and X, and have
never really committed to using its full power. Stupid. I started with 3
early in grad school, though.
