import contacts from external application

Hi,

I'm writing a direct marketing (windows offline) application and I want to add functionality to add persons to the outlook contacts. What is the best way to do this?
My idea is to use .pab-file format. Is this a good idea? And what is the best way to create such a .pab-file? Is is possible to use .pab-file format to import contacts on a PDA?
