Import Contacts.rge file

I was having a problem with my exchange syncing Contracts (only Contacts) to my webmail and Blackberry.

I exported my Contacts to my desktop as a .rge file and deleted all the contacts from my Contacts file.

I then delete my Exchange profile and reopened Entourage and email and calendar repopulated.

I then went to file>Import>.RGE file, etc. and was prompted to skip, or replace duplicates. I selected replace.

It too about 20 seconds for the blue bar to complete the import then > Done.

Problem is - There are still no contacts in my Contacts Exchange folder.

It added a "Contacts.rge" file to my "Files On My Computer" tree, but when you click on it it's empty too....

The .rge file on the desktop shows a 796kb file and has about 210 contacts.

Any advice??

Well if you add them "on my computer" they will not show up for
Excahnge. They have to be imported / moved to the Excahnge address book.

If they don;t show up, it could be the sign of a corruption. You might
want to relaunch Entourage pressing the Option key down to rebuild your
identity,

I'm not adding them to on my computer I'm clicking on the empty Exchange Contacts folder then importing as I wrote above, but it adds a folder to "on my computer". Then when I click on it it's empty.

Is there a step I'm missing?

When you import a .rge file even if it's for an individual item, it creates
a folder in the folder window with the name of the .rge file. In your case
it was contacts and the folder is empty because there were no messages
exported. The contacts were added to the Entourage Address Book. If you had
exported messages and contacts, then you would have seen the messages under
this .rge folder.

You'll need to select all using a custom view in the Address Book view and
move them to the Exchange Address Book.

Create a custom view in the Address Book

Select from the popups.

Date Created Any Date

When this populates, it will contain all your contacts. Select All and copy
to the Exchange Address Book.

I figured it out this way:

Right click > Show Package Contents > Select All > Drag & Drop back into empty Exchange folder.
