Import .csv from internet

Matthew

I have a .csv file on the web. I have Access 2003 Beta.

I go to the file menu, get external data, import. I navigate to the folder
in my web site (http://www.islandlegs.com/_private). I click the file I
want to import and click import. I get the message:

The Microsoft Jet database engine could not find the object
'http://www.islandlegs.com/_private'. Make sure the object exists and that
you spell its name and path correctly.

Does anybody know of a solution?

Nope.
Can't do that.

FTP has never worked either.
Not sure why it is still an option!

I think you *can* link to Share Point lists and pull that data down over the
Internet.

maybe a command button that imports the file first then
you import the data from you local drive.. ftp with a
script file..

Also, I think you can use "web folders" if they are set up.

"Web folders" as in the icons in My Network Places?

I tried that, and it still gave me the error message. It will let me
navigate the web site, but I can't get my file.

I moved the .csv file outside the "_private" folder, and it fixed that error
message. Now, it is complaining that "Text files can't be imported over
FTP, HTTP, or other Internet protocols." However, it will let me import
..htm files from the same location.

I would be happy to try anything, but FrontPage 2002 doesn't give me many
options for formats to save my form results in.

I like that idea. The only problem is I need to keep all the files that I
download (just in case something goes wrong). Do you know of a way to make
the file names different? The command I am using (in a .bat file for the
command prompt) is:

get order_catalog_form_results.csv 01.csv

Can I change "01.csv" to a auto number? Or maybe today's date?

Web Folders as in

How to Install and Use Web Folders in Internet Explorer 5

..."WebDAV is an extension to Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

I have Windows XP, IE 6.

Access describes web folders:

A shortcut you use to save, open, copy, or delete files on a Web or FTP
server. Some Web folders, such as document libraries, have functionality not
available with local folders. You'll find Web folders in My Network Places
or Web Folders.

From this, it sounds like I have it already set up.

Any ideas?
