import dbf file

,
i`ve tried to import (open - no a difference) dbf file into access 2000 and
get empty table + source file become dramatically shorter, while it could
be opened in excel easyly.
but my database is very large, so it is cut in excel.
could anybody help my?
and explaine the reason
