Import diagrams from word or powerpoint

I have been trying to use visio to edit word and powerpoint flow diagrams.
However, I encounter the following problem.

Although visio allows me to paste the diagram, it does so as a single
grouped image, which prevents me from editing it.

I have tried to ungroup the images, but this results everything being
ungrouped, including all the elements that make up the original shapes.

I'd be most grateful if anyone can advise how to prevent this, or an
alternative way to import the diagrams.

the structures of visio flow diagrams and powerpoint/word diagrams are
different and incompatible.

It may be better to embed a Visio object for this in the first place, then
you can edit with Visio.
