Import Error using "Build Enterprise Team" option

J

Joe Messina

System: MS Project Pro 2003 with Project Server 2003

Symptom: after selecting "Build Enterprise Team..." option, a dialog box
pops up with following text. Also suspect some recent system crashes may be
related to this as system has been very stable (for the past year) up until
this point.

An import error occurred.
Check row 201 column ASSN_REG_WORK.
This is not a valid work value or it is outside the range for this column.
For work resources, type the work amount and the abbreviation for the time
period, for example, "12d" or "4hrs".
For Material resources, type the work amount alone or type the work amount
plus the Material label you created for the resource, for example, "8 tons".

To contnue importing with additional error messages, click Yes.
To continue importing with no messages, click No.
To stop importing, click Cancel.

Thanks in advance!

Joe,

There may be negative value of work. Go to Gantt chart view, look the
work column, If any negative values replace with zero or greater.
Look the rows starting from 201.

Thanks

Many thanks for the response Chak! Let me be ungrateful and bother you with
one last piece of information :>) The error occurs regardless of what plan I
open up. I can start with a brand-spank'n new plan (or an old one), access
the ERP to build a team, and there's the error message. Are you thinking that
line 201 maps to an enterprise resource... and that resource has a negative
work value against it within one or more plans? I'll start looking through
all the plans for that resource but I wanted to feed you this tidbit in the
interim. Thx again!

Joe,

a) If this error, you are getting while opening the plan from server,
then do the following:

Insert column Regular work in the gantt chart and look the
values, If any value is having negative or other than Days/Hours, fix
those values. Save the plan.

b) If this error getting while doing the build team, then do the
following:

Open the enterprise resource pool, insert column Regual Work next to
resource name and look for values and fix the values as Days or Hours.
Save the enterprise resource pool.

I hope this will be work.

Thanks
Chak
