Import Excel into Access (Field size)

I was having a problem importing data from Excel to
Access. The field size within Access tables was limited,
but then I found out to change the Default field type to
Memo. This worked for the most part, but I'm still unable
to get the full data from some Excel cells into Access.
It seems like text is still being cut off (limited).

I figured out a work around by adding a row ontop of the
Excel work sheet and to just include large text field
sizes, so that it's automatically detected as Memo during
the import into Access. Apparently some of the cells were
causing the import to be Text and not Memo.

Anyone know why/how I can fix this permanently?

Access looks at just the first few rows of data in the spreadsheet and
assigns field types on the basis of what it finds there.

One way round this is the one you've found, to ensure that the cells in
the first row contain data that forces the field types you need (even if
this is a dummy record to be deleted later).

Another is to create the Access table manually with the exact field
types you want (and with field names that exactly match the Excel column
headings), and the import the data to that table.
