Import Excel to Access

I have a 14k row list of items and prices in Excel from a
vendor I would like to transfer to an Access97 table.
File>Get External Data>Import does not list the .xls file
type. I have reinsatlled Access and made sure all data
transfer options are installed. The Excel sheet was
created in Office 2K. Ideas?

Please explain what it means to register a file ie

BTW - this trick has worked 100% of the time. Don't fail me now!!!

Try re-registering the dll files like this:
Start Run
regsvr32 msexcl35.dll
regsvr32 msxbse35.dll
regsvr32 mspdox35.dll
regsvr32 mstext35.dll

Use 40 instead of 35 for A2K and 2002.

Note that is MSEXCL35.dll not msexc135.dll.

It still works! The 1 vs.l confusion was the problem
