I am using Excel version 11.2.3 for Macintosh. My problem is that I
need to import CSV files that are generated by a Windows system in
UTF-8. The file contains Eastern European characters, in this special
case Czech characters.
When I use the function external data > import text file, the text
assistant offers me only three format options: Macintosh, Windows ANSI
and DOS (PC-8). If I select any of those options all special characters
will not be displayed correctly. I know that on the current version of
MS Excel for Windows it is also possible to select UTF-8 as an origin.
There everything works correctly.
Now I need to find a way of importing such a CSV file correctly with
Excel 2004 for MacOS X. Is there any add-in, AppleScript or VBScript
that can be used? Right now this constitutes a major limitation of
Excel for MacOS X, which requires time-consuming workarounds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
