Bob,
It's not clear from your post where the data originated but it sounds
like it is now in Excel and you are trying to import it into Project.
When you tried to import it did you use an import map? If not, check the
help file in Project under "exchanging information between Microsoft
Project and Microsoft Excel". If you did use an import map, what exactly
did you do and what happened?

Bob,
By "trades names" I assume you mean Resource Names (i.e. the people or
classification of people who are going to perform the tasks). You also
mention that you have manhours for the names. What isn't clear is how
the manhours are allocated (i.e. assigned) to the 520 activities in the
schedule. You can import the resource names as resources to a resource
sheet in your project plan, but unless you know how the manhours are to
be spread among the tasks, you are not ready to import the work (i.e.
manhours) into Project. Did I miss something?
