Import picture to all office 2003 apps fails

I get the explorer window open then a sudden failure of the program. (So far
that's excel, word and powerpoint.) The problem is in comctl32.dll but I have
no idea what is happening. The installation in XP Pro is only a week old and
I don't know if this ever worked. Any ideas?
