Import problem from Excel

I cannot import any data stored in an Excel spreadsheet into Access 2003 SP2.
When the import starts I get an error message stating "ActiveX component
can't create object." Then the screen displays a form called mx_FrmMain:Form
which is blank with Cancel, Next, and Finish buttons at the bottom. Clicking
on Next or Finish generates another error message stating "The expression you
entered refers to an object that is closed of doesn't exist." Clicking on
Cancel kills the import process. I have tried doing both a repair and a
reinstall of my office suite but neither helped. Any ideas?

Thanks freak, the first fix in the first article was it, DAO not registered.
Any ideas as how that would happen?
