Import project to PWS successfully except timesheet

Greg

Hi,

I did the following steps to import a project from one pws to another pws,
evething looks fine except timesheet.

1. Save the project as an .mpp file from source pws
2. Import this local project using Tools - Enterprise Options - Import
Project to
Enterprise to the new pws
3. Click Collaborate - Publish - All Information to publish the project

Eveything looks fine except timesheet.
1. I click View resource assignments under Resources, and select Timesheet
format, then I find out the "% Work Complete" is correct in left panel, but
the timesheet is blank for this project..
2. When resource logon to new pws and click Task -> View my tasks, "% work
Complete" is fine but all timesheet is blank for this project.

After find out this timesheet error in the new pws, I did one more testing
below:
1. Open MS Project and connect to the new pws, open this project in the new
pws, then select "Task Usage" view, it is surprise! I still can find out all
actual time in timesheet.

It looks like something wrong in pws, Any solution and suggestion is
welcome, thanks,

Environment: Project Server 2003 with SP1, and MS Project Professional 2003
in my local, and I have adminstrator right to both pws.

In your first set of three steps, you missed the fourth step. You need to
click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select the "Overwrite
actual work entered by resources" option, and then click OK. Doing so will
"push" the actuals from the project plan to each user's timesheet in PWA.
Hope this helps.

Hi Dale, thanks for the update!

When I try to Republish Assignments, the "Overwrite actual work entered by
resources" option is disabled, I can not select it, (another two options are
available). Even I delete this project from new server, and re-do it again,
this option is still disabled. do you have any idea why I can not select this
option? what I can do to solve this issue? thanks for your help!

The option is disabled if your organization is using Managed Time Periods in
Project Server 2003. Does that describe your situation?

Yes, you are correct!

The only way to work around this is to ask your Project Server administrator
to temporarily disabled the Managed Time Periods feature. After you have
republished the assignments for this project, he/she will need to re-enable
the Managed Time Periods feature. Hope this helps.
