Import text formatting problem

I'm importing text from MS Word into the RTF editor. I am then saving
content to a database, and using SharePoint web parts to view content (and a
tree browser). All works fine except this .. unless I bring in text
unformatted, when I save formatted text (bold, underlines, etc) something
corrupts the text, so when I view it, an entire paragraph may be bold, or
highlighted. I can correct by returning to Infopath, reloading from the
database, and manually removing tags that seem to be added (or deleted). Why
is InfoPath adding or removing tags and corrupting the presented text? Any
patches or things that can allow me to import formatted text, and retain the
formatting correctly?

It's not clear from your post what role Infopath plays in your task or
why you think its the culprit....

However, perhaps the key point here is RTF vs HTML. Are you embedding
HTML tags to format your text or are you relying on the RTF editor?
Also, what kind of Sharepoint web part are you using to display the
content....

Perhaps you ought to reorganize and repost, starting a new thread,
perhaps in the Sharepoint forum?

We are using the RTF editor in Infopath to create and format text.
SharePoint only provides a presentation view of what was sent to the SQL
database from InfoPath. We believe that InfoPath is corrupting the text
somehow when it transmits it. It appears to be adding or opening formatting
tags (we've seen this in the code that is presented to the SharePoint viewer
webpart)
