Import Text Wizard Access 2003

I am trying to develop an import specification in Access
2003. When I try to move to the next field and input the
field name, it goes back and changes the name in Field
1. I have done this many times in Access 97 - 2002, is
there something I am missing

Thanks
Clark

I'm having the same problem. I've snatched the text from
Jeremy's post below. Appears to be an unfixed bug in
Access 2003. I guess I shouldn't be shocked, but I am.

"This is the bug in which users are not able to change the
data type or the field name other than the first field in
the import wizard. The work around is using the advanced
tab and manually creating the columns bases on the number
of spaces. However that is only usefully if you can pull
that information. Add a lot of time to the process. If
you can however save the specs so you can use it again if
you will be importing files witht he same format.

Regarding this issue:

I just spoke with microsoft about this, they didn't seem
to have much information on hand other than the June
Service pack release date is no longer valid. It will be a
while longer. The rep is researching and will email me
updated information from the person who wrote the KB
article about the SP1 release date or any hotfixes
specific to the text file import bug. I will pass along
what ever I get."

There is a hotfix---request the hotfix for issue 837003(search this on
the knowledge base for info) MS will give the file to you and it will
fix the problem. They have some key information onthe web page
instructions that they do not include on the read me files. You will
need to rename three files. Then run the appropriate msp.
