If I understand the question, the table text is formatted & perhaps there
are Borders & Shading applied. These attributes you would like to keep when
you Paste. Your real problem is that the Word table cells contain hard
returns, so when you paste each "line" in the same Word cell pastes into a
different Excel cell. Have I got it right?
If so, there is nothing you can do on the Pasting end of the process - as
you have found, you can retain the formatting, but the above problem
separates the content, or you can Paste Special as Text which will prevent
that problem but you lose the formatting.
One thought is that in the Word table you can use Find/Replace to replace
all hard returns with soft returns. If you're not familiar with the process:
Select the Word table, then Edit>Replace,
Type no content in either the Find or the Replace field, but click the
'more' button (bottom left),
While in the Find field, click the Special button & pick Paragraph Mark,
In the Replace With field, click Special again & pick Manual Line Break,
Click Replace All & click No to searching the remainder of the document.
Then copy the table & paste to Excel.
