Import XLS database to Outlook Calender

I have a co-worker who's created a vacation schedule in excel and would like
to import it into a calender rather than retyping all the data. Is it
possible to import into outlook or export from excel?

Have you tried the File | Import and Export command?

To get the format right for the XLS import first export your Calendar folder
to an XLS (File menu > Import & Export) then use that file as a guide to
creating your vacation import file.
