Import XML-File using XSL-Transformation and creating numeric fields

Hi Access-Gurus,

I already googled for a couple of days for solutions to my problem,
but did not find any.

System: Windows XP, Access 2003.
Problem: I import an XML-file into Access and use an XSL-file for a
necessary transformation. The XML-file contains several fields, some
of them have numeric contents.
While importing, all the fields are created as TEXT-fields. What is
the syntax in XSL to create some of the fields as numeric?
