Import Yahoo mail folders to Outlook?

C

Christopher

I've been using a Yahoo mail account (not the "Pro" version) at work
and my supervisor now wants me to migrate to Outlook 2000 (ver.
9.0.0.2711). I have about 40 customer account folders in Yahoo mail:
will Outlook allow me to import those folders, and, if so, can someone
give me an idea how to do that?

Thank you!

If you only have a web account you need to export from the account or
forward the mail to another address. if you have a lot of mail, paying for
the account may be cost effective - but you'll need to move everything to
the yahoo inbox - POP3 doesn't do any other folders.

In Outlook, create a new folder called, say, TempInbox. Move the contents of
your current Inbox to that folder. Now, log into Yahoo via web and create a
new folder there called, say, TempInbox. Move the contents of the Inbox to
that folder. Next, copy the contents of one of the folders you want loaded
into Outlook to the mailbox's Inbox and perform a send/receive in Outlook. It
should download the messages you just moved into the server-side Inbox. In
Outlook, create a new folder whose name corresponds to the folder on the
server that contained the messages and move the contents of Inbox to that
folder. Do this for every folder on the server. Finally, move the contents
of TempInbox on the server back to Inbox and perform one more send/receive.
This will download old messages you have to Outlook's Inbox. When the
downloading completes, delete the contents of Outlook's Inbox and move the
contents of TempInbox to Inbox. You'll now have in Outlook a duplicate of
what's on the Yahoo server, with the exception of, perhaps, the Inbox on the
server, but Outlook's Inbox will be as it was when you started.
