important question re. data sharing

I

Ian

My question may be a little naive so excuse me;

I have 2 consultants with BCM on laptops working remotely. We want to be
able to share the data between them.

For example;

Both consultants may be making changes or additions to BCM records in the
same working day.
They won't necessarily be changing the same files (accounts or contacts),
although there could be a little overlap.
Each user would then back up the data in the evening.
They can easily meet to swap data (or email files etc), but there is no
server based installation.

Is there a way to achieve this data exchange by some kind of replication
based on the time a file was updated or added?

I hope this question makes sense and that there may be a way of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

With BCM v2 you can try exporting the BCM data. During the import you
can specify merge, in which case it will only import the accounts and
contacts that have changed since the last merge, and also import any
new accounts and contacts.

V2 should be available real soon now.

Hi Luther,

Thanks for the answer.

So I guess in v2 I can have 2 consultants each doing an export in a similar
way to backing up i.e. to a bcm file. then exchanging the data and importing,
again, like a 'restore', selecting a tick box to 'merge' data?

Last I heard v2 was coming out in 'Summer'.

For interest, do we know if v2 is a chargeable product as new, or available
at an upgrade charge, or dare I say it....FOC to the early adopters of
BCM?.......I had to ask!

I asked the same question.

For what its worth, I heard that
the plan is to make it downloadable like a service pack,
and it can also be ordered on CD for a nominal
handling fee.

At some point the Office boxes in the shops will
carry the BCM 2 CD, and it will also be bundled
with a Microsoft accounting app.

But that's not a commitment, just hear say.
