Imported contacts and "File as" order

Using Outlook 2003 I imported several contacts from an Excel
spreadsheet. Everything went smoothly except for the minor annoyance
that all of the contacts appear in "Last, First" order rather than
honoring my preestablished default "File as" order of "First Last".

Am I missing a switch somewhere?
