Imported graphic will not "butt up" to top of page

I'm trying to import a picture/graphic and position it at the top of
the page so that it "butts up" or "bleeds" to the top, and right and
left sides. However, Word is not allowing me to position the graphic
all the way to the top - a white space (about 1/8") shows up. The right
and left sides are fine and do "butt up" properly. Does anyone know how
to get rid of the white space, or if MSWord even allows bleeds to the
top of the page? It looks like the space is a "return" when I turn on
the "show/hide" command but the space does not actually exist. Help! mfb

Hello mblatch-

You might try this:

1) select the picture and click the button on your Picture toolbar to
Format Picture.
2) Click the tab labeled Layout and click the icon for either Behind
Text or In Front of Text (actually just about anythig except In Line
with Text.
3) Click the Advanced button & click the tab for Position. Set you
position H & V relative to Page.

Hope this helps |:>)

Thanks.. Tried it and I'm getting this error message. It's giving me
the message "The server application, source file, or item cannot be
found. Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has
not been deleted, moved, or renamed." Not sure if that means something
is wrong with my MsW application or that I'm missing the imported
graphic. Do you know?

I don't believe the problem lies with Word - it probably has to do with
the image and where it came from.

What type of graphic is it? (tif, jpeg, eps...) What is it's file size?

Which ver. of Word are you using & which OS?

More direct response to your original post-- what you should be able to
accomplish will allow the image to "butt up" to the page edges, but not
really the same as a full bleed. In order to accomplish that you need a
page layout program that allows for content to extent off the edge of
the page. Word doesn't treat the area around the page as a pasteboard,
so you may still wind up with a halo.

Post the additional info & I'll be glad to help if I can. I'm sure
there may be som other responses as well |:>)
