Imported spreadsheet font changes when edited

We imported an Excel .xls file to a Word doc. On some workstations, when
someone edits the imported xls, the font changes from Arial (what it should
be) to Verdana ... and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it back.

Strangely, this happens only on certain workstations. Any suggestions or
ideas?

First suspicion - do the problem workstations have Arial installed?

the issue, it would be quite helpful to know what versions of Excel & Word
you're dealing with as well as such details as *how* the Excel data got into
the Word doc in the first place - there is no "Import" command in Word.
