Imported .wmf file (vector image) has extra lines when printed

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi,
I am going around circles. I can't seem to resolve this issue on the web through various searches. The only clue I have found is a not very useful MS KB article from 2007. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312236#rtDisclaimer

I have created a logo in Adobe Illustrator CS4 to be used as a letter head on a word letter template. (This was exported as .wmf). When I finally found a fantastic crisp image on a printed letter there were numerous fine lines across the image that looks as though it was crossed through. This was not evident on inserting>pic>fromfile or print preview.

Other than the above KB article it doesn't appear that anyone else may have appeared to have this problem.

My printer is fine with all other imported file types and all hard/software has up to date firmware. The printer does not need cleaning, this is a program issue.

Any ideas ?

WMF is a proprietary format used by Windows (Windows MetaFile), specifically
by Microsoft. Mac Word can use it [only because it *has* to due use in
cross-platform documents originating on the Dark Side], but OS X & Mac
printer drivers don't support it very well -- if at all.

Export from Illy as PNG or TIFF or Save As EPS or PDF... For that matter,
Mac Word will take an AI file.

Use EPS :)

And remember the first law of Software: "You get what you pay for, nothing
more"

The free trial is just that: A "trial". It does not all work correctly,
and it does not have all the bells and whistles. It's designed to give you
"a feel for how the product works". You should not expect it to be as
capable as the full version.

Cheers

And the free trial of office 2008 throws up further issues !!
