Importing 101 into MS Projects 2003

Does anyone have an instructions on the best way to import from Excel into MS
Projects 2003 and figure out the mapping?

My goal is to setup a schedule that shows just Tasks, the resources, and
amount of time spent by resource. I want to import or append the schedule
(with an import from Excel) with the amount of time.

I'm just getting started and any assistance would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, try creating a project with one task and one resource assigned to the
task. Save the schedule as .xls format and when the Export wizrd starts
itself, select Project template in the relevant screen. Now you have a
spreadsheet you can add tasks and assignments to and then open in project
(File, Open, file type .xls) as a new project.

Project 2007 drops an Excel template into the Excel folder on install. I
think 2003 did the same thing. You could just use that? I would guess you
would get the same result as Rod's suggestion.

Thanks Rod, I'll give that a try!
