Importing 2000 Excel into 2002 Access

At my job, we use 2000 Excel and 1997 Access. I never
encountered any problems importing a spreadsheet into 1997
Access. We are switching to 2002 Access and I am running
into difficulty importing a spreadsheet from Excel. Once
I select the 2000 Excel file I will be importing, I won't
even get to the Import Wizard before I get the "Microsoft
has encountered a problem and needs to close..." popup
message. When I import Excel files through VBA, it works
fine with no problems. Any suggestions? Thanks!
