Importing 2007 data files

Why doesn't MSP 2007 recognize Excel 2007 files? I'm trying to importing
data from a 2007 spreadsheet and getting the error message: "Project cannot
recognize this file format."

I cannot duplicate your issue here, mine seems to work fine--- map things
carefully.
Are you perhaps attempting to use a 2003 format Excel file that you have
manipulated with Excel 2007? Are you running Excel 2007 in compatability
mode?

I'm using a spreadsheet that was originally created using Excel 2003. I'm
using Excel 2007 and I opened and saved the spreadsheet in both 2003 and 2007
formats. Neither seems to be be recognized by Project 2007.
