importing a pdf into a Word document does not appear sharp

I have a graphic in pdf format that looks very sharp on the screen and if
printed from Adobe Reader or professional by itself. Colors and text are all
as we want them. When I import that graphic into Word (using import...
object... pdf), what displays on the screen is fuzzy and there is a loss of
color. Printing the document yields the same result. Can someone tell me
how to import the pdf file so it retains its original sharpness?

Thanks in advance

In the past, I have selected the part I wanted to copy in Adobe, then copied
it and pasted the copied selection in Word as a graphic/image.

Not sure how to answer this, Doc, as there is no Import>Object>PDF command
that I am aware of.

OTOH - If you are actually using Insert>Object>From File, however, Word is
attempting to 'read' the file & may be having a bit of trouble rendering it
as you would like.

Try using Insert>Picture>From File & see if that does any better. You might
also want to Link, rather than embed, which should give you even better
print quality as long as the original pdf is available at printing time.
