Importing a Web Site MS 2003

I am unable to download my existing website to my laptop. All efforts to
import/open/ftp the site fail. I have reinstalled the FP extensions, to no
avail. When FP starts to connect I get error messages indicated that I am
"unable to download a website from "sitename.com". I am giving up...I need
to get the site onto my laptop version of FP and am very frustrated with
this. Any suggestions?

Do you have another computer that will allow you to publish to it?

Can it be networked with the laptop?

If so, publish from server down to known good computer then publish to
laptop from it.

This still doesn't solve the problem of being able to publish up to
your server with the laptop though, almost sounds like a
firewall/permissions issue...

IF your online website has FPSE installed and working, and your laptop has
FP installed;

On your laptop:
Open FP
File | Open Site
then you will type in http://www.yourwebsitename.com
This will open your website "live" on the remote server...then;
File | Publish Site and Publish back to your laptop's hardrive.

I have a question regarding doing this. If I want to work on the website I
did for work on my home computer, I would publish down to my computer,
correct? Would I first have to creat the folder with that websites name in
"My Web Sites"? Example: C:\MyDocs|My Web Sites\myworkwebsitename. Would
doing this allow me to work on the site at home, publish to the web and then
when I go to work, just make sure I publish back to the work computer first
before doing any editing and publishing back to the web?

You are correct, as long as the live/remote server has the FP extensions and you can use FP's File
Menu | Open Web / Site command to access it.

response did help that way people stop trying to give answers to a question
that's already been resolved.
