Hello everyone-

I am trying to import actual working time from a text file so I dont have to
type the time in by hand via the Resource Usage view.

The way I see it, I will need the following information in my import file:

- The task
- The resource performing the work
- The # of hours of work performed
- The date the work was performed

I am lost trying to set up my import map. I start out by saying I am setting
up an import map for Assignments (as opposed to Tasks or Resources.) But I
am not sure which fields I should use, or should append or merge the
information. What field corresponds to the date actual work was performed?
What field corresponds to the actual work performed ** on a specific date by
a specific resource** ?

Also, what are some ways that you guys update actual work values other than
type them in by hand?

Thanks!

Cris

Hello Cristina,

I'm afraid that a map cann't do that. But a VBA procedure could do.
To do that in VBA, you'll need both the Task ID and the Resource ID *or* the
Assignment ID.

Hi Cris,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

As an alternative, have a look at the setting up of a Workgroup (see Help).
Resources then send you emails of the actual work and if you accept you just
click a button to enter it automatically into your project.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :))
