Importing an ACT 2006 format database into BCM

Brandon

Does anyone know any tips on how to get an ACT 2006 format db to import into
BCM? The only route I can find is to convert the db to text delimited, then
to an .xls file and importing into BCM. I'm losing a lot of information this
way, and have to map the fields. I see that ACT has a converter installed,
but only works for older versions of this format. When I try to initialize
the converter it tells me I must have ACT 4.0 installed. I've got a newer
version and don't have access to an old copy. I've not been able to find any
work-arounds offered by MS or ACT. Any help would be appreciated.

Machine: XP Home w/all current updates
Software: Office 2003 w/all current updates
ACT 2006 w/ all current updates
BCM w/all current updates

I just looked again, but you can import ACT 2006 from the
Outlook|File|Import|BCM Import tool, unless I read your post completely
wrong?

What is the version number you're using for Outlook and BCM? The only 2
installed on this version are

ACT 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0
Quckbooks 99, 2000, 2002,2003,2004

My File menu has a different structure

File|Import and Export|Business Contact Manager for Outlook...

I'm sure I have the most current version installed for both Outlook and BCM.
I installed updates yesterday for both Office and BCM. I'm sure they're
current, I downloaded them thru Office Update.

I see where I went wrong, I transcribed ACT 2006 into ACT! 6, and ACT! 2006
must be what, version 9?
Has anyone just imported into BCM from Import screen and seen what damage is
done?
Apologies, did misread your post,
Susan

ACT! version "5" or "2000" = version 5
ACT! version "6" or "6 for 2004" = version 6
ACT! version 2005 = version 7
ACT! version 2006 = version 8

these last two are a complete re-write of the product, and are based
on MSDE/SQL, replacing the old foxpro/dbase.

I can guarantee they won't work.

There are several add-ons for ACT! that will dump the entire database
out to access tables

Checkout www.actaddons.com and look in the category
"Export/Conversion"
There's even a tool that will do a dump to regular Outlook contacts.

there is a support for Pocket PC in BCM 2003 but on the microsoft website it
specifically says "does not support windows mobile 5"

the programs that can import are slow, read thru some of the boards, not
much luck there, in ACT for Palm OS, it is perfect, we need an "ACT for
Windows Mobile " program badly, about the best solution for now is from
ianywhere, called XTND, but it is far from perfect, this is really
frustrating trying to use ACT 8 and windows mobile/outlook, i have been
looking for a month for a solution
