Importing an ASCII or DBase III file

Hi,

I exported a file from a system call Time Matters. The
two main choices I had was ASCII and DBase III. After I
created the ASCII file, I tried importing it using All
File but Access could not recognize it. I then tried
saving it as a DBase III file. When I tried importing it
by selecting DBase as the File of Type, the file name
appears in the dialogue box. When I try and select it, I
get a message that says "The Microsoft Jet Database
engine could not find the object 'Time_Matters.DBF'.
Make sure the object exists and that you spelled its name
and path name correctly.

Any idea why I cannot import this?

Thanks,

Chuck

Hi Chuck,

The dBase import routine seems to need old-style 8.3 filenames and
paths. Either specify the short equivalent of the path or move and
rename the file so there are no long names in the path and its total
length is less than 64 characters.
