Importing attribute data from and autocad file

T

Tom Ross

Hi

I would like to export Autocad attributes to an MS Access database.

Where can I find information/instructions to do that. I don't care if the
transfer is controlled from ACAD or Access

Or should I post in a different newsgroup

Thanks

Tom

(why two posts?)

Access accepts a limited set of input formats. Open an Access database,
click File | Get External Data | Import ...

The bottom combo box in the resulting window lists the file formats Access
knows how to import.

If AutoCad is on the list, you'll have to use AutoCad to export its data in
a format that IS on the list.

There are a set of Autocad objects available for Access. I added them to my
references but I need some more information on how to use the to access the
autocad files.

I would like to use VB code to get into that information and use in access

Tom

ps. I of course tried the open/import route first.

You'll stand a much better chance of getting information about AutoCAD files
in a newsgroup that deals with AutoCAD. Unfortunately, I doubt you'll find
such a group in the Microsoft hierarchy of newsgroups, as Microsoft doesn't
sell an AutoCAD-compatible product as far as I know.

Autodesk, the manufacturers of AutoCAD appear to have user forums at
