Importing contacts from former users

Big Chief

Hello,

We have recently updated from an IMAP server to Exchange 2007. We
exported all the e-mail, address, contacts and tasks from the IMAP and
imported them into Outlook 2003 using PST Files. However with the
contacts, what we have found is some contacts had been sent to users
from other users who are no longer with the company. Since they don't
have a mailbox, these contacts end up in the local Failures boxes.

Options are to reenter them all but for many users this list is quite
long. Is there a way of stripping out that FromAddress or replacing it
with someone else so these users can be imported?

Thanks.

No you didn't. IMAP servers can hold only mail messages. There was no
reason for you to export anything. Your contacts, tasks, calendar, etc.
were already in a PST distinct from your IMAP PST that help the mail. You
can simply reuse that first PST or, better yet, import the PSTs into the
Exchnage mailbox with tools that come with Exchange (EXMERGE, I believe it's
called).
