Importing Contacts

Hello,
When importing contacts from an excel file (or a CSV
file, haven't checked other formats) after finding the
file to import I am propted to select a destination
folder. However no folders are available to choose
from. I have tried creating folders File->New->Folder
but this does not work.

Any suggestions??
